4A molecular sieve also has specific requirements for its operating environment. As a porous material, 4A molecular sieve is widely used in many fields because of its microporous molecular sieve as adsorption separation material, ion exchange material and catalytic material.
As the effective pore diameter of 4A molecular sieve is 0.4 nm, it is called 4A molecular sieve. It can adsorb water, methanol, ethanol, carbon dioxide, ethylene, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, propylene and other low molecular compounds.
Ⅰ. Molecular size of 4A molecular sieve
Since its effective pore diameter is 0.4mm, it cannot adsorb any molecule (including propane) with a diameter greater than 0.4mm, but its selective adsorption performance for water is higher than that of other molecules, so it is one of the molecular sieves with large industrial use.

Ⅱ. Operating environment of 4A molecular sieve
1. When the temperature is 110 ° C, it is possible to evaporate water in a large space, but the water in the molecular sieve pores will not be expelled. Therefore, in the laboratory, it can be activated and dehydrated by drying in a muffle furnace at 350 ° C for 8 hours under normal pressure (if there is a vacuum pump, it can be dried for 5 hours under 150 ° C air extraction).
2. The activated 4A molecular sieve is cooled to about 200 ° C (about 2 minutes) in air and needs to be stored in a dryer immediately.
3. In the allowable environment, dry nitrogen protection shall be applied during cooling and storage to effectively prevent water vapor in the air from being adsorbed again. Since the used molecular sieve contains pollutants, the temperature should not only reach 450 ° C during activation, but also water vapor or inert gas (nitrogen, etc.) should be introduced to replace other substances in the molecular sieve.
4. Avoid oil and liquid water when using, and try to avoid direct contact with oil and liquid water.
As an alkali metal aluminosilicate, 4A molecular sieve is favored by many customers in terms of drying gas and liquid, and can also be used for refining and purifying gas or liquid, such as argon extraction.
