We all know that molecular sieves are classified into 3A, 4A, 5a and 13X molecular sieves. Different types of molecular sieves have different functional characteristics, so we must not be mistaken when purchasing. Molecular sieve has rich pore structure and adsorption performance. Today, we will introduce the structure and performance parameters of 13X molecular sieve. Structure and performance parameters of molecular sieve: molecular sieve is a synthetic zeolite, a crystal of aluminosilicate, which is white powder, and extruded into strip, sheet and ball shape after adding binder. Molecular sieve is non-toxic, tasteless and non corrosive, insoluble in water and organic solvents, but soluble in strong acids and bases. The molecular sieve loses crystal water after heating, and many holes are formed in the crystal, whose pore size is similar to the diameter of gas molecules, and is very uniform. It can suck molecules smaller than pore size into pores and block molecules larger than pore size out of pores. Therefore, it can separate various components according to the molecular size, hence the name "molecular sieve".

13x molecular sieve specially used for air separation equipment also has good adsorption performance under high temperature and low partial pressure. Compared with 5a molecular sieve, it can adsorb more kinds of harmful impurities in processing air. In the 1980s, 13x molecular sieve was gradually used to replace 5a molecular sieve for air separation equipment. Because the crystal cells of 13x molecular sieve are body centered cubic, while those of 5a molecular sieve are ordinary cubic, with different crystal structures, the former has good structural stability. The pore diameter of 13x molecular sieve is 10ua, and its adsorption pore diameter is larger than that of other molecular sieves, which is convenient for adsorption and desorption. It has large crystal cavity volume, large specific surface area, high adsorption capacity, fast diffusion, and large slope of transmission curve, so its mass transfer area is short and the adsorption speed is fast. 13X molecular sieve is used to produce a good effect of CO2 adsorption by the effect of pressure difference. At present, the molecular sieve strip commonly used in the molecular sieve purification system of air separation equipment has superior mass transfer characteristics than the ball, and the molecular sieve required for processing the same gas is less. The packing density of the ball shape is higher than that of the strip shape, which can reduce the volume of the adsorber under the same molecular sieve amount.
